A great double for British Poker was completed at the weekend when Keith Johnson won the PokerStars Eureka Poker Tour event in Prague, following on from Praz Bansi’s impressive win in the Grosvenor United Kingdom Poker Tour Main Event.

Johnson beat 318 other players to the first prize of €58,400 in PokerStars new tour event, when he defeated Spain’s Antonio Dieguez Rodriguez in a heads-up battle. Rodriguez was one of a number of qualifiers in the event, which saw four make it through to the final table, and he picked up a cheque for €37,000 for his efforts. It was a great effort by Johnson as he started the final day propping up everybody else at the bottom of the chip table.

Johnson was not the only British player in the field, he was part of a group who had pooled 5% of their winnings together, in order for them to travel to Prague. One member was Will Fry, who will be best remembered for his win in Budapest back in November 2008, when he won €595,839 for winning  a PokerStars European Poker Tour Event. Three players from the Czech Republic filled the other positions in the top five, which was a great result for them, and a great success for PokerStars and their newest event.

Next month the tour moves to Nova Gorica in Slovenia, with the event starting on Thursday 12th May. If you fancy yourself as Eureka Tour Champion, then sign up to PokerStars now because qualifiers have already started for next months event, with entry starting at €8.
