Poker star Phil Ivey and wife Luciaetta file for divorce
Here’s a question for you, how do you know poker has gone mainstream? When the personal lives of its biggest names make TMZ headlines! This is precisely what happened yesterday when TMZ announced that Phil Ivey and his wife of 7-years, Luciaetta, filed jointly for divorce on December 22nd.
No reasons have come to light –not surprising given Ivey’s tight-lipped approach to his personal life—and the couple has no children together.
No reports have come out concerning a possible prenuptial agreement, which is a bit unlikely since the couple tied the knot in 2002 –before the poker boom, and the potential for poker pros to make millions.
Ivey has earned over $12 million in live tournament winnings, over $15.5 million in online poker winnings since 2007 according to highstakesdb.com, and countless millions from live cash games (which are near impossible to track). Ivey is also an owner of Tiltware, the parent company of Full Tilt Poker, which many believe is worth millions of dollars each year to Ivey.
This will hopefully not affect the king of poker in any future poker tournaments. As any poker player will tell you, the mental state you are in when you sit down at the poker table can greatly affect the way you play the game. So here is hoping it doesn’t affect Ivey’s poker game to much. As going through a divorce can be rough on alot of people.
