Selbst in contention at PokerStars NAPT Mohegan

Last year Vanessa Selbst won the inaugural PokerStars NAPT Mohegan Sun Main Event in April, and went on to have one of the best years on the tournament trail in recent memory, winning around $4 million total. Now Selbst is back where it all began, and after two days of play finds herself in the Top 10 at the 2011 NAPT Mohegan Sun Main Event.

The tournament saw a drastic reduction in attendance from last year –many people are pointing to the concurrently running WPT tournament in Indiana (which also took a sizable attendance hit), as well as the WSOP Circuit tournament in St. Louis—as a very pro heavy field of 373 players showed up in Connecticut for the event.

Selbst is amongst 56 players still in contention for the title and the $450,000 that will go to the winner. Here is a look at the Top 10 chip counts heading into Day 3 of the PokerStars NAPT Mohegan Sun tournament:

1.    Aaron Overton: 598700
2.    Aaron Mermelstein: 382500
3.    Corey Hochman: 363500
4.    Ruben Costa: 356900
5.    Vanessa Selbst: 339200
6.    David Whalen: 329100
7.    Olivier Busquet: 306400
8.    Victor Ramdin: 296100
9.    Taylor Von Kriegenbergh: 287000
10.    Jerry Wong: 286000

Also still in the hunt are Nick Binger, Bernard Lee, Jeffry Papola, Matt Matros, Adam Junglen, Greg DeBora, Andrew “Foucault” Brokos, Eric Froehlich, Nenad Medic, Dan Shak, Lee Markholt, and Todd Terry.
