735 enter WPT Party Poker Canadian Spring Championship

wpt logoThe World Poker Tour’s Season XI stop in Montreal for the verbosely titled, Party Poker World Poker Tour Canadian Spring Championship (rivaled only by the World Poker Tour Doyle Brunson Five Diamonds World Poker Championship) attracted a starting field of 735 players over the three Day 1 starting flights, and when the dust settled less than half the original field remained entering Monday’s Day 2.

This is the WPT’s second trip to Canada during Season XI, with Jonathan Roy winning the WPT Montreal back in November –Interestingly, Roy and 3rd place finisher Jeff Gross are both among the chip-leaders in the current WPT event) which marked the first time the WPT had gone north of the border since a Season VII stop in Niagara Falls back in 2008.

A handful of players amassed a mountain of chips during their starting flight including, former WPT Champion Jonathan Roy, Jeff Gross, Christian Harder, Kara Scott, Scott Montgomery, Ronnie Bardah, and Matt Jarvis. Below you will find the Top 10 chip counts from all three starting flights.

Day 2 will get underway at Noon local time, with the players entering into Level 11, where the blinds will be 600/1,200 with a 200 chip ante. The average chip-stack heading into Day 2 will be 75,000, and we are expecting to learn the full payout schedule early-on during Day 2.
