Ben Wilinofsky makes final table at WPT Vienna
Ben Wilinofsky is a new name in the world of live poker, but for followers of the online game Wilinofsky is a well known commodity, where he has been one of the most dominant online poker players in recent years playing under the screen-name “NeverScaredB”.
Last April Wilinofsky made a huge splash in the poker world, winning the PokerStars EPT Berlin Main Event, and now a year later the young poker phenom has put himself in position to add a WPT title to his career accomplishments. Wilinofsky is one of the six remaining players at the WPT Vienna Main Event, where he will take 2.2 million chips into Sunday’s final table. Wilinofsky is currently third on the leader-board, but is right on the heels of the second-largest chip-stack remaining, Morten Christensen, with the entire field trying to chase-down chip-leader Ognjen Sekularac and his massive stack of nearly 4 million chips.
Here is a look at the complete final table chip-counts, as well as the seating assignments:
* Seat 1: Morten Christensen — 2,540,000
* Seat 2: Norbert Szecsi — 1,210,000
* Seat 3: Konstantin Tolokno — 1,085,000
* Seat 4: Goswin Siemsen — 875,000
* Seat 5: Ognjen Sekularac — 3,930,000
* Seat 6: Ben Wilinofsky — 2,270,000
Should Wilinofsky go on to win the WPT Vienna title he would have two of the three legs of the Triple Crown under his belt (a WPT victory; an EPT victory; and a WSOP bracelet making up the Triple Crown) with the WSOP right around the corner. Remarkably, Wilinofsky would then have a chance to best Jake Cody’s Triple Crown record of winning all three events in 16 months, a record I thought would last a very, very, long-time! Although Wilinofsky still has to win the WPT Vienna and then of course win a WSOP bracelet this summer.
Wilinofsky was also a recent participant in the Party Poker Premier League, where he won a single-table satellite (defeating Melanie Weisner in heads-up play) to earn a spot in the Big Game lineup.
The final table is set to get underway at 13:00 CET, and will be available for viewing on the WPT Live Stream at www.worldpokertour.com where Jesse may and a rotating group of players and commentators will provide the play-by-play on a 30-minute delay. The players will find themselves in Level 25 with blinds at 15,000/30,000 and a 5,000 chip ante. The short-stack Goswin Siemsen will have just under 30 Big Blinds at the start of the day, while Sekularac, the chip-leader, will have a stack of 131 big blinds.
