Big names make deep-runs at WPT Foxwoods

With 28 players remaining in the hunt for the World Poker Tour Foxwoods World Poker Finals championship there are a number of big-name poker pros still alive and kicking. Attendance was markedly down at Foxwoods this year –no doubt because of the EPT Vienna tournament running at the same time, as well as the WSOPC Hammond finishing the day before the Foxwoods Main Event.

A slew of top poker players descended on the Connecticut woods including Card Player Magazine Player of the Year contenders Sorel Mizzi, Tom Marchese, and Dwyte Pilgirm –Mizzi and Marchese are both still alive and looking to gain ground on Pilgrim with a good showing. Other big name players scattered throughout the final three tables include prior WPT Foxwoods champ Hoyt Corkins, Josh Arieh, Gavin Smith, Jason Mercier and Kevin Stammen.

Here is a look at the top 10 chip counts heading into Day 4 of the tournament:

1.    Chris Hunichen – 714,000
2.    Nikolai Yakovenko – 580,000
3.    Josh Arieh – 548,500
4.    Ben Klier – 465,500
5.    Keven Stammen – 387,000
6.    Mohsin Charania – 349,000
7.    Jeff Forrest – 342,500
8.    Jason Mercier – 342,000
9.    Gavin Smith 307,500
10.    Bryon Springer – 293,000

The players will take their seats at Noon on Sunday and play down to the final table of 6. You can probably find a few sites offering Sports Betting on who will win. I would bet on Nikolai Yakovenko if I was a betting man.
