After two Day 1 starting flights the World Poker Tour stop in Jacksonville attracted a total of 320 entries, which includes 63 re-entries by players who busted on Day 1a and put-up another $5,000 to play on Day 1b of the event. The Bestbet Jacksonville Open as the tournament is being called, will crown the final champion on the Season X schedule before the tour heads to Las Vegas for the $25K WPT Championship at the Bellagio to cap off the historic season.

A number of big names were in attendance for the WPT Jacksonville Main Event, and a slew of big names not only survived their Day 1 flight, but managed to land near the top of the leader-board when all was said and done, including Tony Dunst, Allen Kessler, Joe Serock, Mike Sexton, John Racener, Matt Marafioti, Brian Hastings, and Matt Stout.Sexton and Dunst both made day 2 of the tournament, and wouldn’t it be interesting to see what would happen if both WPT commentators made the final table, leaving Vince Van Patten alone in the booth.

A number of former WPT champions Mike Scarborough, Matt Giannetti (a member of the 2011 November Nine at the WSOP), Matt Juttlestad, Matthew Waxman, Andy Frankenberger (a former WPT Player of the Year as well), Tony Ruberto, Will Failla, James Dempsey, Jonathan Little (a two-time WPT Champion), and Taylor von Kriegenbergh, all managed to make it through to Day 2 of the tournament.

Here is a look at the Top 10 chip-counts from both Day 1a and Day 1b of the WPT Bestbet Jacksonville Open:

9. David Diaz – 108,000

10. Byron Kaverman – 108,000

Keep your eyes on the ladies in this event as well, considering eight out of the remaining 160 players are females –I know it doesn’t sound like much but this is actually 5% of the field, a far larger percentage than is typical since females usually only make-up about 3% of the field in major tournaments to begin with.

Day 2 will kick-off at 2 PM on Sunday where the field is expected to flirt with the money-bubble. The remaining players will be in Level 10, with blids of 500/1,000 and a 100 chip ante. We’ll have more information on the payout schedule at some point on Day 2 of the tournament as well.
