Harder comes up just short at WPT Foxwoods

The final table of the 2011 World Poker Tour stop at Foxwoods for the World Poker Finals featured a former WPT champion in Andy Frankenberger (who was also the 2010 WPT Player of the Year) as well as one of the top up-and-coming players in the game in Christian “CHarder30” Harder. But in the end it was a 23 year-old from New York who would come out victorious, winning nearly $450k in prize-money and adding his name to list of WPT Champions.

Frankenberger entered the final table as the short-stack, and could only manage to move up one spot as Eli Berg was the first player eliminated. Frankenberger’s 5th place finish is his 3rd Top 5 finish in a WPT Main Event in the past 14 months, with a WSOP bracelet mixed in for good measure.

Harder was able to put himself in position for his first major poker title, but in a see-saw back-and-forth heads-up battle with Daniel Santoro, it was Santoro who was able to keep Harder on the ropes and eventually finish off the online pro in a classic race situation with Santoro holding AK and Harder Pocket Tens: When a King hit on the river Santoro was able to claim the WPT World Poker Finals trophy.

* 1st: Daniel Santoro – $449,910

* 2nd: Christian Harder – $248,962

* 3rd: Bob Carbone – $166,271

* 4th: Steven Brackesy – $129,816

* 5th: Andy Frankenberger – $99,585

* 6th: Eli Berg – $83,580
