wpt logoThe Season XII World Poker Tour (WPT) Legends of Poker Main Event final table was headlined by Phil Laak, with a supporting cast that included Dan Heimiller and Alex Masek, but in the end it was online poker player turned live player Jordan Cristos who would walk away with the top prize and the title of WPT Champion.

Here is a look at the chip-counts and seating assignments at the start of the final table:

* Seat 1. John Gordon – 2,935,000 (36 bb)

* Seat 2. Jordan Cristos – 4,265,000 (53 bb)

* Seat 3. Alexandru Masek – 2,890,000 (36 bb)

* Seat 4. Phil Laak – 4,730,000 (59 bb)

* Seat 5. Ryan Goindoo – 5,570,000 (69 bb)

* Seat 6. Dan Heimiller – 1,070,000 (13 bb)

Phil Laak likely had some pretty lofty expectations heading into the final table with the second largest chip-stack, but the poker gods like to write their own stories, and Laak was eliminated in 5th place, still searching for his first WPT victory.

Six-time WSOPC ring winner Alex Masek followed Laak out the door a few hands later, leaving Ryan Goindoo, Dan Heimiller, and Jordan Cristos to play for the WPT Legends of Poker title. Heimiller started the day with just 13 Big Blinds, but weaved his way through the final table and gave himself an excellent chance to win the tournament after two battle with Goindoo during three handed play, with Heimiller prevailing in both confrontations.

After eliminating Goindoo, Heimiller held a 12 million to 8 million chip advantage over Cristos, but the heads-up battle was a one-sided affair that lasted just 27 hands, with Cristos denying Heimiller the WPT title the longtime pro so desperately wanted to add to his resume that includes a WSOP bracelet and WSOPC ring.

Here is a look at how the final table of the WPT Legends of Poker played out on Wednesday:

1. Jordan Cristos – $613,355

2. Dan Heimiller – $356,115

3. Ryan Goindoo – $233,360

4. Alexandru Masek – $156,790

5. Phil Laak – $109,385

6. John Gordon – $85,080

Cristos had three live tournament results prior to Black Friday, spanning from May of 2008 to April of 2011. However, when Black Friday effectively cut off his income stream the online pro turned to live poker and has racked-up dozens of cashes over the past couple years –38 to be exact.

The WPT will now move on to yet another popular stop as it travels all the way across the country for the Borgata Poker Open series in Atlantic City.
