Two WPT Champions crowned this week

With the end of the year fast approaching the tournament poker schedule has picked-up once again, with tournaments overlapping one another all over the world. Perhaps there is no better indication of just how jam-packed the tournament schedule gets towards the end of the calendar year than the World Poker Tour, which crowned not one, but two, champions over the last week.

Before the ink was dry on Noah Schwartz’s victory in Jacksonville, the WPT was already hosting another Main Event tournament in Copenhagen, Denmark, where Emil Olsson captured his first major tournament victory yesterday.

WPT bestbet Jacksonville Fall Poker Scramble

After playing down to the official final table of six players the WPT stop in Jacksonville, Florida was Noah Schwartz’s to lose, considering the well-known poker pro took a massive chip-lead into the final day of the event. Schwartz entered the final table sitting on a stack of over 6.2 million chips, while his five opponents all held between 1 and 2 million chip stacks.

Schwartz did have to fight for his first major victory, finding himself pitted against Byron Kaverman in heads-up play with both players sitting on 7.1 million chip stacks. But it was Schwartz who would come out on top, picking up his first major tournament victory and bringing his career live tournament winnings to just under $3 million by collecting the $400k payday the tournament sported courtesy of the 477 entrants the WPT Jacksonville Fall Poker Scramble attracted.

Here is a look at the final table payouts from the tournament:

1. Noah Schwartz – $402,970

2. Byron Kaverman – $236,592

3. Ryan Hartmann – $153,403

4. Hans Winzeler – $106,848

5. Brian Senie – $77,083

6. Lee Markholt – $61,819

WPT Copenhagen

Meanwhile, over in Copenhagen, Denmark… A total of 229 players registered for the WPT Copenhagen Main Event, and once again it was the chip-leader entering the final table that would go on to win the event, Emil Olsson.

The victory was the biggest of the young Swede’s career, with the $230k first-place prize-money nearly beating his previous best score by a factor of 10. Olsson’s heads-up opponent had a history of big finishes in Copenhagen, having finished in 3rd place at the 2010 EPT Copenhagen Main Event, but once again it was not meant to be as the Norwegian lost to the Swede in Denmark -maybe a Finn dealt the final hand to complete the Scandinavian theme, and maybe throw in at donkbet.de for some German flavor!

Here is a look at the final table payouts from the tournament:

1. Emil Olsson – $229,938

2. Morten Klein – $145,164

3. Phillip Jacobsen – $93,080

4. Stanislav Barshak – $68,316

5. Robin Ylitalo – $51,237

6. Jan Djerberg – $40,989
