UK poker pro Chris Moorman amongst WPT Vienna leaders

Day 2 of the World Poker Tour Vienna Main Event is in the books, and with just 66 players remaining in the field there are a slew of top young players amongst the chip-leaders looking to make a splash in a WPT championship event. Perhaps the biggest name of all is the player sitting second on the leader-board, Lock Poker pro Chris Moorman, but in addition to Moorman online legends Tristan “Cre8ive” Wade and Ben “neverscaredB” Wilinofsky are also in the top 10 in the leader-board.

179 players started Day 2 of the WPT Vienna Main Event, and the bust-outs came fast and furious, and lasted all day. Unfortunately 21 of the players that will take their seats for Day 3 on Friday will go home empty-handed as only 45 players will make the money in the tournament.

Moorman is considered one of the greatest tournament players in poker, with over $7.8 million in online tournament winnings throughout his career. In 2011 Moorman broke through in live tournament pokers, finishing second in the World Series of poker Europe Main Event as well as final tabling the Aussie Millions Main Event and finishing as one of the Player of the Series contenders at the WSOP.

Despite all of this, Moorman hasn’t won a major live tournament thus far in his career; a win at the WPT Vienna would go a long way to cementing Moorman’s legacy as one of the greatest tournament players of all-time –a lofty accomplishment for someone still in their 20’s.

Here is a look at the Top 10 chip counts heading into Day 3 of the tournament:

1. Morten Christensen – 483,000

2. Chris Moorman – 411,500

3. Tristan Wade – 395,500

4. Darko Stojanovic – 354,000

5. Gerald Karlic – 353,500

6. Ben Wilinofsky – 350,500

7. Anthony Ghamrawi – 333,000

8. Jurgen Reicht – 332,000

9. Marius Pospiech – 322,000

10. Norbert Szecsi – 313,000

Quite a few other well-known players are also still in the running, which could make for a very aggressive bubble on Day 3, and could make for an even more intriguing final table this weekend. Here is a look at the other big names lurking a little further down the leader-board: Roberto Romanello (223,000 chips), Andrew Badecker (192,500 chips), David Vamplew (170,000 chips), Andre Akkari (163,500 chips), Eugene Katchalov (133,500 chips), Andy Frankenberger (115,500 chips), Yevgeniy Timoshenko (110,000 chips), Casey Kastle (96,500 chips), and Marvin Rettenmaier (73,500 chips).

Day 3 of the WPT Vienna Main Event will kick-off on Friday at 11:30 CET, with the players in Level 14; 1,200/2,400 blinds and a 400 chip ante.
