World Poker Tour Hollywood Poker Open day 1 recap
Lawrenceburg Indiana seems like a strange place to be hosting a major poker tournament, and even stranger when you consider the tournament has the name “Hollywood” in the title, but that is precisely where the WPT has landed this week.
The Hollywood Poker Open is first ever WPT event to take place in the Midwest region of the country, and drew a respectable 142 entrants. The winner will receive the lion’s share of the $1.3 million prize pool, walking away with $391,212.
With the slow blind structure, 103 of the 142 entrants will be back for Day 2 of the tournament. Poker pro Eric Froehlich will start day with the chip lead, sitting on close to 150,000 chips. Former WSOP Main Event champion Carlos Mortensen was also able to accumulate some chips on Day 1, and will start Day 2 with 78,600 chips; good enough for 9th place.
