The World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2011 marks the 42nd WSOP event. While the series started out with just six players in 1970, in has now grown to see more than 70,000 participants. The event includes 58 distinct tournaments in all variations of poker with buy-ins that range from $500 to $50,000 per event. Poker players from more than 115 different nations will flock together at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas to compete for a share in more than $180,000,000 in prize money.

WSOP 2011 Event Registration

There are a number of different ways that you can register to play in a WSOP event. The simplest way is to arrive at the Rio Convention Center registration desk while the WSOP is in progress and pay the buy-in fee for the event you wish to take part in.

You can register for a bracelet event up to 14 days prior to the start of the event, thereby ensuring you a reserved seat.

Online poker rooms typically begin running WSOP satellites for the WSOP main event tournament in March and many of them have already begun to offer these satellite tournaments. The winners of these satellite tournaments will be awarded places at the live event.

WSOP 2011 Schedule

The World Series of Poker 2011 will run from May 31 to July 19, 2011.

Single table satellites, mega satellites and live action begin on May 30, 2011.

Event #58 is the $10,000 No Limit Hold Em Championship and it will begin on July 7, 2011 and run for 13 days. The final table of the WSOP Main Event will be held in November with the top nine players vying for the title of WSOP 2011 Main Event Champion.

New Events in WSOP 2011

There are some new events being run in the WSOP 2011 and these are causing something of a stir. The second event to run will be a $25,000 heads-up event with a capacity of 256 players. This is the most expensive heads-up event to be run by WSOP. Event 29 will feature a $2,500 10-game mix, six-handed event and there is also scheduled to be a $5,000 pot limit Omaha six-handed event which will run as event 35.

The WSOP 2010-2011 Circuit Tour

The WSOP circuit tour is a national tour that plays throughout the United States. The top 100 qualifiers from the circuit tour are awarded seats in the WSOP Circuit National Championship which will be held from May 27-29, 2011 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. For the first time, a gold bracelet will be awarded outside the annual WSOP in Las Vegas or the WSOP Europe in London, with one being awarded to the WSOP Circuit National Champion. In addition, the 100 players will play for a share of $1,000,000 which will be divided among the top ten.
