5 online poker players cashing in at 2011 WSOP

In the aftermath of Black Friday US online poker players were faced with many difficult decisions: move overseas or to Canada, switch to live poker, or look for new work. Some saw the 2011 World Series of Poker as their chance to strike it big and make the switch to the much more expensive live tournament scene.

In this column I have singled out the five best runs at the 2011 World Series of Poker by online poker players. Here is a look at five online poker players who are having no problem making due without online poker:

#5 Melanie Weisner– 2011 WSOP stats: 5 cashes, $42,894 in total earnings

Weisner is in that in-between phase of her career where she is no longer an online player and not quite a full live tournament player yet. I’m still waiting for Weisner to breakthrough with her first big win, but she is definitely one of the most consistent “cashers” in poker.

#4 Richard “nutsinho” Lyndacker– 2011 WSOP stats: 3 cashes, 1 final table, $129,201 in total earnings

Lyndacker has been a staple on the tournament trail in 2011 and is having a fairly good WSOP by his standards, as he tries to reproduce his runner-up $570k finish in the 2008 WSOP $5k NLHE.

#3 Shaun Deeb– 2011 WSOP stats: 6 Cashes, 1 final table, $111,350 in total earnings

Deeb has struggled on the live poker scene despite his incredible online success that was until 2011 where Deeb has been making quite a few deep runs beginning with two runner-up finishes in preliminary events, and now five WSOP cashes in 2011.

#2 Taylor “ambiguosity” Paur — 2011 WSOP stats: 5 Cashes, 1 Final Table, $319,682 in total earnings

The 2010 Card Player Magazine Online Player of the Year has been having a breakout WSOP in 2011. With online poker in absolute limbo in the US it appears Paur may make a seamless transition to the live tournament scene.

#1 Chris “moorman1” Moorman– 2011 WSOP stats: 5 cashes, 2 final tables (a 2nd and a 3rd place finish), $1,051,466 in total earnings

Any follower of online poker knows precisely what Chris Moorman brings to the table, and now live tournament players are getting a glimpse at the tremendous talent and poker acumen of the young Brit. The scary thing is… this is only the beginning for Moorman!
