The World Series of Poker Circuit Series has been hit or miss when it comes to drawing a crowd this season, and even the $10k Regional Championships have been all over the map in terms of attendance –some good and some not so good. The latest WSOP Circuit Series Regional Championship got underway yesterday in New Orleans, and with just 70 players registered has to be seen as a disappointment.

A number of players flew in from the WPT Championship in Las Vegas including David Williams and Shannon Schorr who both made deep runs in the WPT Championship before bowing out on the penultimate day of the WPT Championship Wednesday.

Registration for the WSOPC Regional Championship is open through the first level of play on Friday, but it’s unlikely more than a handful of players will add their name to the field at this point –I don’t see top players flying in to take part in a $10k tournament with less than 100 entrants.

Three players topped the 100,000-chip mark on Day 1 with Full Tilt poker pro Brandon Adams leading the way with 136,150 chips. Here is a look at the Top 10 chip counts at the end of Day 1 at the 2011 World Series of Poker Regional Championship at Harrah’s New Orleans:

1. Brandon Adams — 136,150
2. Harry Cullen — 125,925
3. Kido Pham — 103,200
4. Brian Roberts — 81,775
5. Corey Burbick — 78,950
6. Shannon Shorr — 73,550
7. Kyle Bowker — 69,400
8. Jeremiah Vinsant — 69,250
9. Ben Thomas — 64,000
10. John Dolan — 61,900
