On Day 3 of the $10k Pot Limit Holdem Championship at the 2011 World Series of Poker a number of big names hit the rail early on, and somehow the tournament managed to avoid the Hard-Stop rule which has already impacted two other tournaments during the first week of the WSOP –The Pot Limit Championship seemed destined to also fall victim to the rule that stops play after 10 levels.

With names like Mike Matusow, Nenad Medic, Toby Lewis, Robert Mizrachi, Jennifer Tilly, and Nicholas Levi starting the Day it wasn’t surprising that a poker pro would win the tournament; what may have been surprising to some is that the poker pro that won the Pot Limit Championship was Amir Lehavot, who not only won his first WSOP bracelet, but also his first major tournament of any kind. With the $573k first-place prize-money, Lehavot more than doubled his career tournament winnings, with over 90% of his winnings ($1,017,383) coming in 2011 thanks to a 4th place finish at the WPT LA Poker Classic, and now his WSOP win.

With Matusow, Lewis, Medic, and Mizrachi all falling before the final table, Lehavot still had to contend with a formidable final table lineup including McLean Karr, Sam Stein, Levi, Michael Benvenuti, and Eric Cloutier. Here is how the final table fared in the $10k Pot Limit Holdem Championship:

1. Amir Lehavot — $573,456

2. Jarred Solomon — $354,460

3. Sam Stein — $264,651

4. Stephen Chidwick — $198,927

5. Tommy Vinas — $150,453

6. Nicolas Levi — $114,525

7. Eric Cloutier — $87,702

8. McLean Karr — $67,596

9. Michael Benvenuti — $52,406
