As the Main Event of the 2011 World Series of Poker draws ever-closer, the final few preliminary tournaments are wrapping up including the ultra-high buy-in $50k Players Championship, and at the opposite end of the spectrum, Event #54, a $1k buy-in No limit Holdem tournament.

After a huge turnout saw Event #54 become the second largest preliminary tournament in WSOP history it was inevitable that an extra day we needed to be added to the schedule, and this is precisely what happened as the Hard-Stop Rule ended the tournament with just 9 players remaining.

The $1k NLHE tournament reached the final table on Tuesday night, and leading the way is Team PokerStars Pro Maxim Lykov, who will take a huge chip-lead into Wednesday’s action, with a near 2-to-1 chip lead over his nearest opponent. Lykov is in search of his first WSOP bracelet, and will be trying to add to Russia’s totals.

Here is a look at the final table chip counts heading into the added day of the tournament:

2. Dror Michaelo — 1,980,000

3. Joshua Evans — 1,670,000

4. Sebastien Roy — 1,400,000

5. Douglas Mackinnon — 1,160,000

6. Warren Wooldridge — 1,030,000

7. Harald Olsen — 1,025,000

8. Stanislav Alekhin — 820,000

9. Ren Ho Zhang — 785,000
