Hansen and Collopy to resume WSOPE match Sunday

In perhaps one of the strangest spur of the moment changes to a £10,000 buy-in tournament in the history of poker, Gus Hansen and Jim “Mr_BigQueso” Collopy have put the final match of the best-of-3 finals in the £10,000 buy-in Heads-Up No Limit Holdem Championship off until Sunday at 6PM.

The finals for the tournament began on Thursday, and were meant to conclude on Thursday! However, after grueling semi-final matches, Gus Hansen and Jim Collopy squared off in a best-of-3 match. Hansen took a quick 1-0 lead, and looked to have the tournament locked-up until his KK lost to Collopy’s AQ. After that moment it was all Collopy, and the two found themselves all-square at 1-1.

Because of a rule that precludes heads-up matches from beginning after 3AM –and the bleary eyes of both players—saw the Championship match put on hold. Not only was the match put on hold, but the chance or a WSOP bracelet –which would be Hansen’s first–has been overridden by both players wanting to take part in the WSOPE Main Event!

Now that both players have been eliminated from the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event they have checked their schedules and will conclude the match at 6PM on Sunday.
