Just before one of the greatest final table showdowns in World Series of Poker history, where two potential future poker giants Martin Staszko and Pius Heinz clashed in a heads-up battle that lasted over 100 hands, two other poker giants were honored with their induction into the Poker Hall of Fame: Barry Greenstein and Linda Johnson.

Greenstein, known as the “Robin Hood of Poker” thanks to his philanthropic habits that include donating ALL of his tournament winnings to charity, was presented into the Poker Hall of Fame by fellow high stakes poker player and Hall of Famer Doyle Brunson (Brunson also presented Seidel at last year’s ceremony). With over $7.5 million in career tournament winnings, a reputation as one of the most successful high-stakes cash-game players in the history of the game, as well as being a poker author and philanthropist, Greenstein was a shoe-in for the Hall of Fame.

Johnson, known as “The First Lady of Poker”, has one of the most impressive away-from-the-tables resumes you will ever see, was a bit more of a long-shot, but thanks to the new rule that stipulates a player must be 40 years-old, as well as quite a few finalists having ties to Full Tilt Poker or Ultimate Bet Poker gave Johnson her chance to take her place amongst the games’ greats –an honor she rightly deserves.

Johnson was presented by 2009 Hall of Fame inductee Mike Sexton, who cited her work with Card Player Magazine, the World Poker Tour, the Poker Gives charity, as well as being a founding member of the Tournament Directors Association; oh, and did I mention Johnson is also a WSOP bracelet winner!
