Max Lykov cruises to win in the WSOP $1k NLHE

You won’t see a much easier path to victory than the one Team PokerStars Pro Maxim Lykov took on his way to winning the second largest preliminary event in WSOP history. In the $1k No Limit Holdem tournament Lykov defeated his eight opponents in under six hours, knocking out most of the other players himself at the 2011 World Series of Poker.

Lykov scored his first WSOP bracelet as well as his biggest career payday, winning nearly $650k, but the Russian Pro seemed more like a Football Team winning their division and not the Superbowl as he told reporters, “I have more money, but now I need to win the Main Event.”

With 4,576 total entries, Event #54 trailed only the inaugural $1k NLHE tournament held in 2009 in terms of attendance numbers, and much like that tournament in 2009, which was won by poker pro Steve Sung, this time around Lykov scored another victory for poker pros.

Here is a look at how the final table played out in Event #54:

1. Maxim Lykov – $648,880

2. Dror Michaelo – $401,296

3. Warren Wooldridge – $288,946

4. Ren Ho Zhang – $213,539

5. Harald Olsen – $159,134

6. Stanislav Alekhin – $119,598

7. DJ MacKinnon – $90,604

8. Josh Evans – $69,230

9. Sebastien Roy – $53,333
