Mike SextonWSOP Bracelet winner, over 2.7 Million dollars in prize money, a whole host of final tables and the respect of his pier’s, no wonder Mike Sexton will be the only new Poker Hall Of Fame Member added to the list of players this year.

The people behind the World Series of Poker are scheduled to make the announcement today (Thu 15th Oct 2009)
Sexton who has been voted in by a 30 person panel which was made up of 15 living members of the Hall Of Fame and 15 representatives from a media panel, beat off some of the greatest players to have ever played the game to get this honor.

Also in the running this year was three WSOP main event champions and a who’s who of poker that reads like a dream final table. The list included Tom Mcevoy who won the Main Event in 1983, Dan Harrington (1985) and Scotty Nguyen (1998), the rest of the list was made up by one of this years November 9 Phil Ivey, the man who has recently made WSOPE back to back final tables Daniel Negreanu, Ace on the river author Barry Greenstein, Men “The Master” Nguyen and the ever professional Eric Seidel.

The induction will take place on 7th November 2009 when play resumes at the Rio for the final table of this year’s WSOP.
Although Sexton is mostly recognized for his TV commentary on the WPT tour along with several other show’s, he is obviously no slouch as recently as 2006 he bested a field of some of the greatest names in poker to beat none other than the aforementioned Daniel Negreanu heads up at the WSOP Champion of Champion’s event.

Sexton will join some of the great names such as Johnny Moss, Walter Clyde “Puggy” Pearson, Doyle Brunson, the late great David “Chip” Reese, Stu “The Kid” Ungar, T.J. Cloutier, and the bad boy of poker himself Phil Hellmuth.

Congratulations Mike from all at PNB.
