Phil Ivey

With the World Series of Poker just around the corner –the final table resumes on November 7th– Phil Ivey will be featured on ESPN’s investigative journalism show E60 Tuesday, November 3, 2009. The interview/documentary/opinion show comes on the heels of Ivey gracing ESPN the Magazine’s cover, so it appears that ESPN is going to really push their coverage of the WSOP Main Event final table, and that means marketing Ivey.

Previews and press releases of the show indicate the ESPN cameras will follow Ivey to poker destinations around the world –courtesy of his private jet—and introduce people to the lifestyle that is poker superstardom.

Another aspect of the show will be Ivey’s non-poker gambling endeavors –sports betting and craps—and it will be interesting to see in what light the show paints these other forms of gambling in comparison to poker: Will they emphasize the luck vs. skill difference, or simply lump them all together as gambling?

Either way, the show will give poker enthusiasts a rare look into Phil Ivey’s private life: A rare occurrence since Ivey is one of the more reserved poker pros.

You can watch E60 Tuesday nights at 7pm on ESPN.
