Sam Stein wins first major poker title at WSOP

At this rate every player who lists their occupation as ‘professional poker player’ will win a World Series of Poker bracelet in 2011, as yet another longtime poker player, Sam Stein, captured his first WSOP bracelet on Sunday by winning the $3,000 Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) tournament.

Stein went into the final day of play as the chip-leader but was pitted against a number of other top poker players, including Adam Junglen, Christian Harder, and two-time WSOP bracelet winner Brock Parker who all joined Stein at the final table.

Stein has already had a fantastic 2011 up to this point, having won $1 million for his 4th place finish at the PCA in January, as well as another 4th place finish in the $10k Pot Limit Holdem tournament held at the WSOP just two weeks ago (which was good for another $264k). Having racked up nearly $2.5 million in career tournament earnings since 2009, Stein is possibly the best poker player nobody knows –although winning his first major title will go a long way towards remedying that situation.

Here is a look at the final table payouts from the $3k PLO tournament:

1. Sam Stein – $420,802

2. Ben Lamb – $259,918

3. Warren Fund – $184,368

4. Christian Harder – $132,623

5. Adam Junglen – $96,737

6. Zimnan Zivard – $71,548

7. Brock Parker – $53,633

8. Austin Scott – $40,748

9. Dilyan Kovachev – $31,360
