Shaun Deeb gunning for WSOP bracelet in 10-Game Mix

Posted by Steve Ruddock on Jun 18, 2011 Posted in Poker News | No Comments »

One of the most disappointing performances by players making the switch from online poker to the live poker tournament trail has to be Shaun Deeb. The online legend who has won just about every major tournament at every online poker room has for whatever reason managed only limited success in live poker tournaments.

However, 2011 has been much better for Deeb who finished second on two preliminary events at the 2011 PCA in January, and has already cashed four times at the 2011 WSOP. Now Deeb finds himself at the top of the leader-board heading into the final day of the $2,500 10-Game Mix as he pursues his first WSOP bracelet, as well as his first major tournament victory.

With a tough field of 19 players that includes John D’Agostino, Matt Vengrin, David Benefield, and Brian Haveson standing in his way, Deeb’s path to the bracelet will surely have some bumps in the road –especially with the cash game specialist David Benefield who is very accustomed to playing mixed games.

Here is a look at the Top 10 chip counts heading into Day 3 of the tournament:

1. Shaun Deeb – 321,700

2. Brian Haveson – 288,000

3. Travis Pearson – 258,100

4. Jason Stern – 220,000

5. Septimiu Popescu – 217,300

6. David Benefield – 211,300

7. Tad Jurgens – 161,000

8. Don Mcnamara – 156,000

9. Roland Israelashvili – 149,000

10. Daniel Makowsky – 141,200
