Who will win the WSOP Main Event tonight?

The three players remaining in the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event are quite a contrast. You have the stereotypical US poker star in Ben Lamb; the up-and-coming European Internet whiz kid in Pius Heinz; and the older, more workmanlike, player in Martin Staszko. But which of these players will win the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event?

Going by Matchbook.com’s updated betting lines, Pius Heinz is nearly an even-money favorite at 21/20; not surprising when you factor in his large chip-lead and his near flawless play during Sunday’s final table.

Lamb is actually the long-shot on Matchbook.com (maybe James Bord is setting the lines) at 4/1, which is surprising, considering he has more chips than Staszko, and in a poll of who the better player is, would likely beat the Czech handily.

Staszko is coming in at 12/5 on Matchbook.com, which seems to indicate that a lot of people are expecting fireworks between Lamb and Heinz while Staszko looks to get into heads-up play with the winner. The lines at the site look good so if you have any NHL betting tips you may want to head over to Matchbook and place a wager.

In my opinion, this is the year of the Lamb. Lamb’s run in the 2011 WSOP has been remarkable, and it would only be fitting for the young US pro to take down the title in a year when the US poker world has been hammered. A Lamb win would also mark the first time since 2001 that a “name” poker pro has won the WSOP Main Event title.
