Poker’s biggest live event is continuing this week in Las Vegas, as the annual World Series of Poker entered its 25th day this weekend. The tournament for live poker high-fliers has handed out several more of its prestigious gold bracelets to event winners along with some huge cashouts. Day 25 of the World Series of Poker this year saw Chris Ferguson reach a final table but fall short in this attempt to take home a gold bracelet.

Just five events were running on the 25th day, but it was just as eventful as any other day. The much anticipated final table of the $10,000 Six-Max Championship saw poker star Chris Ferguson make his return to the biggest WSOP stage of his career and a large crowd of spectators also came out. Two WSOP gold bracelets were won on the day, and another final table was set up.

Event 39, the $10,000 Six-Max No-Limit Hold’em Championship, ended with Australian player Martin Kozlov winning first place prize for a whopping $655,709 after he successfully outplayed a  field of 294 players. Attention was focussed on Ferguson, a five-time bracelet winner and former WSOP Main Event champion who has this year made his return to the WSOP after a five-year absence. This left Kozlov three-handed with a sizeable chip lead against Davidi Kitai and Justin Bonomo. He knocked out both in a wild double to get his hands on his first bracelet.

Nick Petrangelo came in fifth and Jack Salter followed him in sixth place, rounding out the final table. A number of other high profile names were among the players to make the final day were Vanessa Selbst, Paul Volpe, Steve Gross and Scott Seiver.

Chris Vitch is a talented poker player who has somehow never found himself within the winner’s circle. In event 40, the $2,500 Mixed Triple Draw Lowball (which was a brand new event for the 2016 WSOP) a total of 236 turned out for the inaugural running, and Vitch won himself an impressive $136,854. In the tournament arena he has found success at the WSOP in recent years with 3 top-three finishes in live poker tournaments since 2012.

“I’ve read a lot of things over the years about the best player never to have won a gold bracelet,” Vitch told reporters after the win. “I’m sure there are many players in that category who are deserving. But I always thought I belonged in that conversation.”
