WSOP Notebook: Ivey makes FT #5, Lindgren called out again and mo

While Phil Ivey was busy locking up his fifth final table of the 2012 WSOP there were plenty of other stories going on all around the Rio. Here is a look at some of the stories that you may have missed if you’re not following Twitter and other poker outlets like a hawk.

Bryan Micon latest poker player to call out Erick Lindgren

It seems the floodgates have been opened on Erick Lindgren, and every possible creditor is now willing to call out the poker superstar publicly over fantasy sports debts. The latest being Bryan Micon, who took to the forums at his website DonkDown.com to detail the following story:

“So I guess Erick is pissed off at the 100% true stories I told on DD radio about the past and present debts he had and does owe to my fantasy team.

“During the $1500 NL 2-7 event on some break a guy bumps into me, I look back, and he just keeps walking. Whatever, it’s the Rio, it’s the WSOP, ppl are tilted, half are drunk, and I really didn’t think much of it. I realize a few moments later that the guy looks like Lindgren, and he definitely saw it was me and certainly had a chance to move and this now appears to be the time-honored high-school shoulder-bump intimidation move.

“I guess he is pissed off that I made public the debts he owes my fantasy team after it turns out he is in debt to a number of gamblers. Erick Lindgren currently owes my fantasy team $16k. On radio a few weeks ago I also told a story about how during the height of the FTP headshots he was getting that he owed my fantasy team some similar figure, maybe $20 or $30k, and he promised us money about a dozen times, it took 6+ months to get the money from him, and he threatened to pay me $100/month forever if I complained more.

“Well go fuck yourself Erick, you owe my fantasy team $16k as of right now today. You pulled a hot little high school move at the Rio that I’m sure made yourself feel like the man just like when you were a high school sports star. You still owe my team $16k and now I’m just going to tweet this thread to you, Daniel, Pokernews, and Kevmath.

“I’m sure you will use this and excuse to really-for-sure not pay my team the money you owe, but it’s important to me from and SEO perspective to have another link saying “+1 Erick Lindgren did shitty things to me, didn’t pay his gambling debts, and generally treated me like a piece of shit.”

Phil Ivey does it again

Event #35 marks Phil Ivey’s fifth final table of the 2012 World Series of Poker. Ivey enters Wednesday’s Mixed-Holdem final table in 7th place out of the nine remaining players, but still has enough chips to be a factor in the tournament:

* Seat 1: Chris Tryba — 347,000

* Seat 2: Salman Behbehani — 253,000

* Seat 3: Michael Foti — 105,000

* Seat 4: Michael Gathy — 418,000

* Seat 5: Joep van den Bijgaart — 605,000

* Seat 6: Erik Cajelais — 368,000

* Seat 7: Phil Ivey — 169,000

* Seat 8: Samuel Golbuff — 526,000

* Seat 9: Brent Wheeler — 158,000

Roberto Romanello seeking Triple Crown in Event #36

UK poker pro Roberto Romanello has made his first cash of the 2012 WSOP, and the former EPT and WPT Champion is among the final 60 players remaining in the $3,000 NLHE Shootout event. Should Romanello win his table today (which will be 6-handed) he’ll earn a spot at Thursday’s final table and have a good shot at completing poker’s Triple Crown.

Doyle leaves tournament after chest pains

There was a Doyle Brunson sighting at the WSOP yesterday, as the legend was spotted playing in the $2,500 8-Gamed Mix event, but Doyle left the tournament unexpectedly after a little scare with his heart, tweeting: “Felt a little flutter I’n my chest at the poker tournament so I got up and left. Can’t play cash and tourneys. Too long”

Hopefully Doyle is all right, and we see him at WSOP’s for many more years.
