WSOP Notebook: Poker reality show, haters, and more

Posted by Steve Ruddock on Jun 13, 2012 Posted in Poker News | 1 Comment »

With all eyes being focused on the Phils –Ivey and Hellmuth—there were a couple of interesting stories that came out yesterday but received very little coverage. In this installment of the WSOP Notebook I’ll fill you in on a potential new poker reality show, why Andy Frankenberger’s haters have been going wild, and why Mike Matusow had his head over a garbage can on the floor of the World Series of Poker.

Poker reality show focusing on the ladies???

The DonkDown NewsGirl “Saramar” apparently has an inside source that is saying Vanessa Selbst, Vanessa Rousso, Maria Ho, and Liv Boeree are filming a poker reality show. The four have not been keeping it very secret that they are living together during the 2012 World Series of Poker and have not only thrown their own party but have also been spotted out at the Electric Daisy Carnival. According to the report by Saramar, the four are living in a mansion in Vegas and will be playing WSOP events and partying it up in Vegas for the cameras.

The news was revealed during a special installment of DonkDown Radio (which usually airs on Wednesday nights) celebrating the launch of the new version of DonkDown.com – called DonkDown 2.0.

No love for Frankenberger

Andy Frankenberger has only been around the poker scene since 2010 and since that time he has won a WPT title, made another WPT final table, won the WPT Player of the Year Award, took down the Party Poker Premier League in 2012, in addition to winning two WSOP bracelets in two years. Despite this list of accomplishments Frankenberger has been getting a lot of hate on the poker forums, with people calling him a luckbox who is simply on a heater (if only heaters like this actually existed).

So let’s give Andy Frankenberger a little love. NOBODY can weave their way through these tournaments simply on luck alone. Sorry everyone but Frankenberger is the real deal. Apparently he has taken over the luckbox moniker the forums like to toss around that was first held by Tom Dwan and then Vanessa Selbst – good company in my opinion.

Mike Matusow finishes second in chips despite a “bathroom break”

William Reynolds had an interesting Tweet during Tuesday’s action: “Just when I thought I head everything come out of Mike @themouthmatusow’s mouth I hear him vomiting in the Amazon room from 100 meters away.”

Apparently Matusow blamed the “outburst” on food poisoning, but it definitely didn’t seem to hinder him in the $5k Omaha 8 or better as he finished the day second in chips behind only Phil Ivey. Matusow is guaranteed at least a $10,000 cash, but he along with the other 26 players remaining have their eyes set on the bracelet and the nearly $300k that is set aside for 1st place.

We didn’t need to know about Mike Matusow pucking-What’s the Big Deal about Pro Female Poker Player getting a Reality Show and Frankenberger needs to just take it like a Pro because respect is earned if fans don’t accept him so what the check is in his bank account not theirs.
