Big names still in contention at EPT San Remo

One of the most coveted titles in poker is the European Poker Tour San Remo Main Event which despite dealing with a post-Black Friday poker world, as well as the WPT and WSOPC holding simultaneous events, just missed surpassing 1,000 entrants for the third straight year drawing an impressive 987 entrants.

After two days of play the field has been trimmed to 176 players, with the money bubble set to burst when just 144 players remain. Amongst the remaining players are a number of top poker players from both Europe and the United States including Kevin Vandersmissen, Carter Phillips, Fabrice Soulier, and 2009 WSOP Champion Joe Cada, all of whom are entering Day 3 in the top 10 on the leader-board.

Here is a look at the Top 10 chip counts heading into Day 3 of the EPT San Remo Main Event:

1.    Georgios Manousos — 573,900
2.    Germano Martucci — 545,300
3.    Kevin Vandersmissen — 534,300
4.    Carter Phillips — 496,400
5.    Paolo Rigano — 466,700
6.    Nicolas Yunis — 454,400
7.    Fabrice Soulier — 441,100
8.    Xuan Liu — 430,700
9.    Gerasimos Deres — 430,700
10.    Joe Cada — 421,700

Other notable names still alive in the tournament include Russell “rdcrsn” Carson, Viktor Ramdin, Vanessa Selbst, Max Lykov, Ted Forrest, Ludovic Lacay, James “James666” Sudworth, David Vamplew, and Casey Kastle.

Day 3 of the EPT San Remo will get underway midday on Saturday where the money bubble is expect to be burst very early on.
