Joseph Cheong leads after Day 2 at EPT San Remo

A familiar name sits atop the 144 players remaining in the 2011 EPT San Remo Main Event, as 2010 November Niner Joseph Cheong will head into Day 3 as the chip-leader, topping the charts with 632,000 in chips.

Cheong has had a decent amount of success since his legendary play during three-handed play at the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event, when he six-bet all-in with a mere A-7 against eventual champion Jonathan Duhamel, who held pocket Queens. The young star is likely hoping to put that play out of people’s minds with a win in San Remo, which would be his first major tournament victory.

Joining Cheong in the top 10 are a few other high-profile poker players including William Thorson and Vanessa Selbst. The tournament is still far from being decided, considering the players haven’t even reached the money bubble yet (something that should take place very, very, early on Day 3) which will occur when just 128 players are left in contention for one of the EPT’s most coveted titles.

Here is a look at the complete list of the Top 10 chip-leaders heading into Day 3 of the 2011 EPT San Remo:

1. Joseph Cheong — 632,000

2. Daniel Neilson — 584,500

3. Mustapha Kanit — 577,000

4. William Thorson — 508,500

5. Sergey Tikhonov — 504,500

6. Vanessa Selbst — 497,000

7. Nick Yunis — 435,500

8. Chris McClung — 402,000

9. Ondrej Vinklarek — 396,000

10. Jon Spinks — 355,000
