The PokerStars European Poker Tour Grand Final will have a new addition to its schedule this year as the tournament series in Monte Carlo will host the first six-figure buy-in tournament in European poker history. The tournament will be a €100,000 buy-in Super-High-Roller event, and has already attracted the attention of some of the top poker players in the world, with 20 players already registered to participate in the historic tournament.

* Daniel Negreanu

* Eugene Katchalov

* Jason Mercier

* Scott Seiver

* David Sands

* Dan Shak

* Tony G

* Artem Litvinov

* Leon Tsoukernik

* Tobias Reinkenmeier

* Viktor “Isildur1” Blom

* Masa Kagawa

* Patrik Antonius

* Jason Somerville

* Sorel Mizzi

* Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier

* Jonathan Duhamel

* Dan Smith

*Two players have decided to keep their participation on the down-low for now*

The EPT has slapped a $2 million guarantee on the tournament (a number which has almost been eclipsed with weeks to go before the event begins), with EPT President Edgar Stuchly stating, “It’s fitting that such an historic tournament is taking place in Monaco — the spiritual home of high stakes gaming. I’m expecting that it will be an action-packed tournament and will prove worthy of its place in poker history.”

The EPT Grand Final will be making its return trip to Monte Carlo after Season 7’s Grand Final was played in Madrid Spain. The EPT Season 8 Grand Final will take place from April 23rd, 2012 and will run through May 1st, 2012. The Super-High-Roller tournament is slated to begin on the opening day of the tournament series (April 23) and is scheduled for three days.

The tournament will also allow players to “reload” should they bust out of the tournament on Day 1. Thus far in 2012 the attendance at the two $100k buy-in tournaments, as well as the $250k buy-in event that was held at the Aussie Millions have seen a marked decrease in attendance; in 2011 the big-buy-in events took place before Black Friday, since then, with Full Tilt Poker having taken $300 million out of the poker economy, attendance in higher-buy-in tournaments has been on the decline.

Here is a look at the attendance numbers for the $100k buy-in tournaments over the past two years:

* 2011 Super-High-Roller at the PCA = 39 entrants

* 2012 Super-High-Roller at the PCA = 29 entrants

* 2011 Aussie Millions $100k Challenge = 38 entrants

* 2012 Aussie Millions $100k Challenge = 22 entrants

* 2011 Aussie Millions $250k Challenge = 20 entrants

* 2012 Aussie Millions $250k Challenge = 16 entrants
