Season VIII of the PokerStars European Poker Tour has added yet another opportunity for one lucky player to be crowned an EPT Champion and pocket a six-figure prize in 2011, as the EPT announced this week that the tour will be stopping in Greece for the first time in its eight-year history.

The news comes on the heels of the EPT announcement that in January 2012 the tour would be making its first stop in Ireland, and now Greece will join the growing list of countries to have hosted an EPT tournament. The tournament will take place at the Club Hotel Casino Loutraki in Greece, and will run from November 15-20, 2011.

The PokerStars blog quoted Greek pro George “gkap13″ Kapalas as saying, “This is great news that the EPT will visit Greece. I’m truly excited to have such a prestigious tournament taking place in my country. Fellow Greek players have an opportunity to compete in a high calibre tournament with large numbers, and players visiting Greece will enjoy the beautiful Greek landmarks and famous hospitality,”

The vacation resort and five-star hotel has been the prime location for most of the major tournaments in Greece in recent years –including several PokerStars sponsored events, and their ability to handle these events was likely a major factor in PokerStars decision to allow the hotel to play host to the €4,400 buy-in Main Event tournament.

CHCL general manager Alexandros Doukas was elated to tout the hotel’s deal with PokerStars, saying, “We are very happy to extend our strategic partnership with PokerStars.net, after two very successful Greek Poker Cup tournaments. The EPT’s debut in Greece is a very exciting development for Loutraki as a top tourist destination, for our casino, and for Greek poker in general,”
