Nebraska is set to welcome a new gaming facility, as WarHorse Gaming, a subsidiary of Ho-Chunk, Inc., recently announced its plans to construct a new casino in Omaha. The company is also gearing up for the next construction phase of its Lincoln gambling facility.

Currently, Nebraska is home to five tribal casinos that offer a combined total of 660 slot machines. However, the WarHorse Gaming Omaha facility will boast approximately 1,300 slots and 20 table games upon completion, with more than 800 of these available when the first phase of the casino opens in just a year’s time. Additionally, the construction of a new parking garage will cater to all phases of the casino.

“We want to provide Nebraskans with the gaming opportunities they resoundingly approved back in 2020 and start boosting property tax relief as soon as possible,” said Lance Morgan, President and CEO of Ho-Chunk, Inc.

Meanwhile, WarHorse Gaming Lincoln’s expansion plans will see the casino double in size, with the addition of 500 parking stalls, six to ten table games, and an expanded dining area. Once completed, the facility will employ over 500 people and generate around $14 million in tax revenue for the state of Nebraska.

“The phased buildout in Lincoln will allow live racing to revive at the facility more rapidly,” Morgan added. “We have great partners in the Nebraska Horsemen, and their mission to expand horseracing in the state is our mission.”

WarHorse Gaming has also revealed that it will continue to construct subsequent phases of the Lincoln facility, which will see the buildout of the full gaming floor, parking garage, and hotel.

Nebraska voters approved casino gaming at licensed racetracks in November 2020, paving the way for the expansion of the state’s gaming industry. Moreover, in anticipation of sports wagering commencing in 2023, the Nebraska Racing & Gaming Commission (NRGC) approved sports wagering rules in October 2022. The NRGC will oversee all gaming activities within the state.

With the latest gaming facilities in the pipeline, Nebraskans can look forward to a surge of gaming opportunities, boosted tax revenue, and employment opportunities in the gaming industry.
