PokerStars Announces Launch Of New $9 Million Players No Limit Ho

PokerStars, the biggest online poker website in the world has confirmed that it will be launching a new live poker tournament known as the Players No Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) which will take place every year, starting from 2019.

The online poker giant will invest $9 million into the inauguration edition of the tournament which is expected to take place a week before the popular 2019 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure takes place in the Bahamas. The PSPC will have a $25,000 buy-in and PokerStars has ambitions to turn the PSPC into the richest buy-in tournament in the history of the game.

PokerStars Will Invest $8 Million In Platinum Passes  

PokerStars will invest a total of $9 million into the first ever PSPC. The company will invest $8 million of these funds in the form of special ‘Platinum Passes’ which will be issued all throughout 2018. The remaining $1 million will be awarded to the winner of the PSPC.

Each Platinum Pass will have a value of $30,000 which will comprise of a special package that includes the $25,000 buy-in to the PSPC, 6 nights of accommodation at the popular Atlantis Resort Nassau in the Bahamas and $2,000 in travel expenses. PokerStars has also teased that it will be awarding Platinum Pass winners with a number of special prizes and rewards but has decided to keep this secret for now.

PokerStars Team Pro Daniel Negreanu endorsed the PSPC by saying this was going to be a unique poker tournament and encouraged poker players from all over the world to try and win a platinum pass to gain entry to the first ever PSPC.

How You Can Obtain A Platinum Pass

The first way for players to obtain platinum passes it to play popular online poker tournaments at PokerStars. Some of the popular online events that will award platinum passes include any World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) events, Sunday Storm, MicroMillions events, Sunday Million and a Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP) tournament.

The first batch of platinum passes being up for grabs online will be during the Winter Series which starts from Dec 25 and finishes on Jan 7. There will also be more online tournaments added to this list in the coming months.

The second way that players can obtain a platinum pass is to play PokerStars Live Events. PokerStars will be issuing platinum passes at its on-going PokerStars Championship Prague which commenced on December 15. Some of the other Live Events that will have platinum passes up for grabs include IPO Italy, 2018 PCA, PSL Macau and PokerStars Festival London.

The Stars Group which is the parent company of PokerStars wants the PSPC to become the new standard for live poker events across the world. Rafi Ashkenazi, CEO of the Stars Group said that the company wanted to boost its live poker tournaments and reaffirm its commitment to the game. The PSPC is expected to attract top poker pros from around the world as well as recreational and amateur poker players.
