ISPT: From Laughingstock to Major Tournament Series

ispt_logoJust a few months ago the smart-money would have been on the International Stadiums Poker Tour (ISPT) to be a dismal failure, if not cancelled entirely. But a funny thing happened in the past couple of months, beginning with the addition of the Dusk Till Dawn Poker Club who dramatically cleaned-up the ISPT marketing campaign beginning with a €1,000,000 guarantee for the winner of the tournament. With the new guarantee, and the excellent reputation of Dusk Till Dawn, ISPT Day 1’s (which took place across several online poker sites) suddenly started receiving interest and more importantly players.

Now, according to the ISPT via PokerNews.com, 550 players are already registered for Day 2 of the tournament at Wembley Stadium, and players will also be allowed to buy-in for €3,000, and reentries will be allowed. It’s conceivable that the ISPT could not only meet its guarantee, but could very well be a rousing success. Generally speaking, poker players are attracted to big prize-pools, and with the ISPT already boasting a €1.65 million prize-pool I wouldn’t be surprised to see more and more players changing their travel plans and heading to London in early June.

Players who qualified through a Day 1 tournament online will bring their final chip-stack to Day 2a or 2b of the ISPT at Wembley, while players who buy-in directly on Day 2a or 2b will be given 50,000 chips, as will people who reenter the event.

Also helping the ISPT will be the 14-event tournament series that will compliment the Main Event, and of course a growing list of well-known poker players who have already stamped their ticket for the Main Event. Some of the pros who will be at Wembley Stadium include ISPT Ambassadors Sam Trickett, Mike Mizrachi, Liz Lieu, and David Benyamine, as well as the potential for a confrontation of some sort as protagonists Tony G and David Uliott will be there, along with some two-dozen name poker players.

Here is a look at the complete ISPT schedule which will run from May 31 through June 6:
