Negreanu’s woes continue on High Stakes Poker

Just when you thought Daniel Negreanu couldn’t possibly run into any more bad-beats/coolers/poor decisions, the PokerStars pro took two massive hits on this week’s episode of High Stakes Poker on GSN to send his Poker ROI for the show deeper into the negative.

The first hit saw Negreanu in a pot with Mike Matusow and Eli Elezra where Matusow was lurking in the weeds limping in with pocket kings, Negreanu decided to play the 8-9 of clubs, and Elezra raised to $5,000 with A-7.  Again Matusow only called, causing Negreanu to call behind as well. The disastrous flop of 9-K-9 sealed Negreanu’s fate, as both he and “The Mouth” wound up all-in on the flop. After running it twice, Matusow scooped the entire $329k pot.

Later in the episode it was the same two, Negreanu and Matusow, who were involved in the biggest pot of the evening. This time it was Negreanu’s pocket Tens against Matusow’s A-Q of clubs on a 6-4-7 board with two clubs. When the flop betting ended the players were all-in with $496,800 on the line. Again the two decided to run it twice, and Matusow improved to a flush both times, scooping the massive pot.

Negreanu’s struggles on the show are become the stuff of legend, and it still seems there is no end in sight.
