Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open down to 100 players

SHRPOThe three starting flights of the $10 million guarantee Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Main Event saw the prize-pool soar to nearly $12 million, after 2,384 poker players from around turned Hollywood, Florida into an overnight poker hotspot, and the tournament into the talk of the 2013 tournament year.

Of the 2,384 entrants, 768 punched their ticket to Sunday’s Day 2, and by the end of play just 100 players were left in contention for the $1.7 million first-place prize.

Leading the way into Monday’s Day 3 will be poker pro Justin Bonomo –who fired five bullets in this event—but ZeeJustin isn’t the only well-known player still alive in the field. Joining Bonomo heading into Day 3 are Matt Giannetti, Amir Lehavot, Victor Ramdin, Griffin Benger, Matt Glantz, Allan Bari, Blair Hinkle, Bryn Kenney, David Sands, Philipp Gruissem, Noah Schwartz, Adam Levy, Cherish Andrews, Joe Serock, Mike Matusow, Matt Stout, Will Failla, Jen Shahade, and Ylon Schwartz.

Here is a look at the Top 10 chip-counts heading into Day3 according to the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open website:

1. Justin Bonomo – 2,722,000

2. Derrick Cutler – 1,669,000

3. Ravi Raghavan – 1,652,000

4. Neri Sanchez – 1,449,000

5. Derrick Simon – 1,300,000

6. Matt Giannetti – 1,264,000

7. Darlene Lee – 1,235,000

8. Bryan Morton – 1,222,000

9. William Sharkey – 1,193,000

10. Amir Lehavot – 1,171,000

All but one of the remaining players are guaranteed a payday of at least $17,453, but the real prizes are at the top of the payout scale. Here is a look at what is on the line for the nine players that make the final table:

* 1st place: $1,745,245

* 2nd place: $1,163,500

* 3rd place: $872,625

* 4th place: $639,925

* 5th place: $494,490

* 6th place: $378,138

* 7th place: $290,875

* 8th place: $232,700

* 9th place: $174,525

One thing other tournaments should take notice of was the number of amateurs in the field. This was a product of the numerous satellites, but also of the massive guarantee and the schedule for the event itself. By having starting flights on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, an amateur player could enter on Saturday, play Day 2 on Sunday and know if they are in the money or not. This is so important because it allows potential participants to play Saturday and Sunday, and know if they are in the money, before determining if they need to take a day off from work!

Hats off to the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open for doing everything they could to bring amateur players into the fold.
