Poker News BoyEvery day the poker world is inundated with more news, reports, and gossip, than any of us can read. At PokerNewsBoy.com we understand that there are only so many hours in the day, and only so much time you can set aside to follow all of the stories taking place, so we have come up with the Daily Grind as a solution. The Daily Grind will make sure you don’t miss any of the more obscure poker stories, wrapping up the day in poker in one neat, concise, column.

Today I’ll take a look at a number of stories including Doyle Brunson’s decision to not play in any WSOP tournaments this year, Talal Shakerchi’s €1,000,000 loss in Monte Carlo, and Adam “Roothlus” Levy winning a live tournament while final tabling an online event… at the same time!

End of an Era: Doyle skipping WSOP

The poker world is officially entering a new era, considering that poker legend Doyle Brunson tweeted out that he would “pass on tournament play at WSOP”. While Doyle’s tournament schedule has been decreasing over the past few years, this will be the first time since his boycott during the Behnen-years that Doyle will play zero WSOP events.

With Doyle’s unofficial retirement from the WSOP I think it’s time to rekindle my idea from nearly four years ago: Why the WSOP needs to honor Doyle Brunson

Talal Shakerchi loses over €1,000,000 in EPT Grand Final cash-game

There weren’t too many fireworks during the €500,000 buy-in cash-game that took place at the EPT Grand Final, and there were very few monster pots or incredulous hands that were reported. But don’t take this to mean that money didn’t exchange hands, and one player who lost quite a bit of cash (but not all that much of his net worth) was businessman/poker enthusiast Talal Shakerchi.

The Daily Mail puts Shakerchi’s losses at around €1.1 million.

Roothlus reinvents multi-tabling

There were a lot of congratulations on social media for Adam Levy yesterday after he finished in 3rd place in the Monaco Cup at the EPT Grand Final tournament series, pocketing €47,700. There were also a lot of congratulations for online poker player “Roothlus” who won Scoop Event #3-M for $67,484 which took place online at the same time as the Monaco Cup live event. Did I mention that Adam Levy IS “Roothlus”?

So how did he do it? PokerStars posted an incredible pic of Levy at the final table in Monte Carlo with his laptop open next to him as he sits at the final table of online event: http://ow.ly/i/27f7m/original
