Poker News BoyEvery day the poker world is inundated with more news, reports, and gossip, than any of us can read. At PokerNewsBoy.com we understand that there are only so many hours in the day, and only so much time you can set aside to follow all of the stories taking place, so we have come up with the Daily Grind as a solution. The Daily Grind will make sure you don’t miss any of the more obscure poker stories, wrapping up the day in poker in one neat, concise, column.

Today I’ll take a look at a number of stories including Greg Jensen’s donation to the victims of the Sandy Hook school shooting, The PCA Main Event results, and some changes to the Heartland Poker Tour for Season 9 schedule.

Season 9 of the HPT gets a facelift

Perhaps the biggest change players will see during Season 9 of the Heartland Poker Tour is a new Main Event structure, created (or more accurately, tweaked) by Daniel Negreanu. Negreanu worked with the HPT’s constraints, which means the events will still not be Allen Kessler approved as they play out in just three days, but Negreanu did soften some of the jumps along the way, as well as tweaking the ante structure.

Other changes include:

* Day 1 = 40 minute levels: Day = 50 minute levels: Day 3 = 60 minute levels

* Final tables will now be played nine-handed instead of six-handed

* Maria Ho will take over for Chris Hanson in the broadcast booth and the events will now be telecast internationally

Greg Jensen donates PCA winnings to Newtown victims

Every now and then a CEO or business owner will enter a poker tournament (usually a High-Roller tournament) and when they over-perform and cash in the tournament that money can sometimes go to very good use, as was the case when CEO Greg Jensen final tabled the $100k Super-High-Roller at the PokerStars PCA. Jensen pocketed $286,000 for his efforts (all profit since he was given the $100,000 buy-in as a gift!) and he decided to donate all of the winnings to the victims of the Newtown, Connecticut tragedy.
