Two of the online poker world’s biggest stars cashed in during recent events in the 2011 PokerStars WCOOP, as Dan “djk123” Kelly and Steve “gboro780” Gross both won WCOOP bracelets. For Kelly the win marked his 3rd career WCOOP victory, while Gross earned his first WCOOP bracelet.

Kelly’s WCOOP victory came in the $109 8-Game Mix tournament, where he outlasted a monstrous field of over 1,400 players. Gross picked up a WCOOP win in the $300 HORSE tournament, and had to survive a final table that included Alex Kostritsyn among others.

Gross won $33,332.52 for his victory (no deal was struck at the final table) while Kelly booked a slightly smaller monetary win with a $23,529 score (again, no deal was struck at the final table). Kelly’s previous WCOOP wins both came in 2009, as the online star won the $215 Razz tournament worth $53,410 and the massive $10,300 HORSE tournament worth $252,350.

Both players were members of the Brunson 10, and sponsored by Doyles Room Poker before Black Friday and Blue Monday ended their affiliation with the site. Gross was one of the first online poker players chosen for the illustrious group, and Kelly managed to secure the now rescinded sponsorship after a competition during the 2010 WSOP where he won a bracelet and was automatically added to the Brunson 10 roster (along with David “DocSands” Sands).
