Full Tilt Poker kicked off the 15th Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) with a $216 No Limit Holdem tournament. The tournament saw a total of 5,646 players hit the virtual tables, crushing last year’s opening event by nearly 1,000 players, and falling just shy of the 5,712 players from two years ago.

Full Tilt’s $1 million guarantee for the tournament was easily eclipsed, with the winner pulling in a massive$151,000; living up to his screen-name “SolidGoldman24k”! Oddly enough, because of heads-up chop, the second place finisher “PHHSkid99” won $176,000, more than the actual tournament champion.

The FTOPS XV features 27 tournaments with Full Tilt guaranteeing a combined prize-pool of $17 million for the tournament series. The Main Event will take place next Sunday, where players can pony-up $535 for a chance at the $2.5 million guaranteed prize-pool.
