Poker News BoyWith the World Series of poker taking up most of the poker headlines these days this column should get you caught up on all of the other poker happenings going on around the world. In this installment of the Friday Wrap I’ll talk about Bruno Lopes big win in France, the latest Women in Poker Hall of Fame nominees, the second running of the Micro Millions at PokerStars, and the Merge Gaming Network’s software upgrade fail.

Bruno Lopes wins WPT Regional Event in France

The World Series of Poker isn’t the only place to play poker tournaments, and this week rising star Bruno Lopes captured a 6-figure prize by winning the World Poker Tour Regional Series event in Cannes, France. Lopes won the Euro Finals of Poker in January, pocketing $129k. Here is a look at the final table payouts from the tournament:

2. Louis Gorostis € 70,500

3. Yannick Massa € 45,500

4. Robert Giordano € 33,500

5. Thomas Fara € 25,500

Finalists for 2012 WiPHOF announced

The finalists for the Women in Poker Hall of Fame Class of 2012 have been revealed, and this time around there are 10 deserving ladies up for the honor. Here is a look at the final 10 nominees:

* Victoria Coren – Poker Player /Journalist

* Nani Dollison – Player / Industry Professional

* Annie Duke – Poker Player / Author

PokerStars bringing back the Micro Millions

PokerStars will be running its second micro-stakes buy-in tournament series in July, as the Micro Millions is coming back for a second-go-round. From July 12th to July 22nd PokerStars will host about 100 tournaments ranging in buy-ins from $.11 up to $22. You can take a look at the full schedule at the PokerStars Blog.

Merge Gaming’s software upgrade riles up players

If you want to see how not to unveil a major software upgrade take a cue from the Merge Gaming Network, which seems to have rushed out their new software, and their player base has not been happy with it. Even now, days after the unveil, Merge is working to fix all of the bugs and appease their players.
