Poker News BoyOnce again there was no shortage of news on the poker front this week, ranging from the good (Ultimate Poker receiving official approval from the Nevada Gaming Commission to end their field test), to the absurd (poker pro Masa Kagawa being arrested for his alleged role in an Android Malware ring). In this installment of the PNB Week in Review we’ll bring you these stories and more.

Full Tilt Poker adds Four UKIPT Ambassadors to Roster

No huge names here, but it looks like FTP is going to be pushing the UKIPT tour pretty hard, as Martins Adeniya, Dermot Blain, Ben Jenkins, and Sinem “Sin” Melin were added to the FTP roster as official UKIPT Ambassadors.

Masa Kagawa Arrested in Japan

Japan doesn’t have very many legitimate poker pros, but Maasaki (Masa) Kagawa was definitely one of them. The longtime player has amassed over $1.5 million in career tournament earnings according to his Hendon Mob page, putting him in the #1 spot on the Japanese all-time money list. But if the allegations that surfaced yesterday are correct it seems poker wasn’t the only way he was making money.

According to reports Kagawa was arrested as part of an Android Malware ring in Japan. The ring allegedly used an Android Trojan to collect 37 million E-Mail addresses and ran a fake online dating site that earned them close to $4 million in under a year of operation.

Ultimate Poker receives Final Approval: Version 2.0 Coming Soon

On Thursday Ultimate Poker (Ultimate Gaming) got the official go-ahead from the Nevada Gaming Commission to operate in Nevada after completing their field trial. According to a report in the Las Vegas Review-Journal by Howard Stutz the company has dealt over 9.1 million hands and run 100,000 tournaments (I’m assuming the 9.1 million is cash game hands only) without issues.

NGC Chairman Pete Bernahrd raised only one concern according to Stutz: “I saw comments that games weren’t as sophisticated as the illegal games,” Bernhard said.

But now that the field trial is over Ultimate Poker is expected to roll-out a more advanced product, Version 2.0, which is expected to launch any day now.

Daniel Negreanu’s post-WSOP vlog

There is a lot of good stuff jammed into this 20-minute video, including how Daniel tracks his results, and definitely stick around for the final minutes where he discusses Neil Channing’s recent blog:
