There are a lot of inferences that can be drawn from a recent Comscore Media Metrix survey that was released on November 22nd, all pointing to the fact that online poker is here to stay in the US regardless of any regulations the government decides to impose on the industry.

One of the most telling statistics in the survey was that online poker sites received 32 million unique visitors in the month of October! Think about that number for a minute, nearly 1/10 of the US population visited an online poker in October alone.

Of course, these numbers do not indicate ‘real-money’ online poker players, but they do give you a taste of how popular online poker is in the United States. Leading the way in terms of US visitors was Full Tilt Poker with 4.7 million unique visitors –a 12% increase from September. Next up was PokerStars and its 2.5 million unique visitors. UB Poker and Absolute Poker –both of which operate on the Cereus Poker Network—had 1.8 million and 1.6 million unique visitors respectively. Other highly visited websites include KingLotto (1.7 million) and SportingBet PLC (1.4 million).

Overall, US online poker traffic was up 114% from September to October according to the Comscore survey. Any way you slice the numbers, online poker is definitely a popular way for US residents to spend time online.
