Everest Poker suing World Series of Poker over breach of contract

Everest Poker has been the official sponsor of the World Series of Poker over the last two years, and was slated to continue that arrangement this year. All of that went by the wayside when Everest Poker informed Harrah’s and the WSOP that they would not be paying for this year’s sponsorship because Harrah’s had breached their contract in the past.

Everest Poker has claimed that WSOP episodes airing in France had the Everest Poker logo –which was to be prominently displayed on every table and on the inner ring at the final table—was replaced with a Full Tilt Poker logo.

Everest cites a meeting in 2009 with Harrah’s and ESPN where they agreed to control the offending station, RTL9, in France. Everest claims that in subsequent airings the logo was still replaced with a Full Tilt logo.

The$22.5 million lawsuit was filed in Las Vegas by Ultra Internet Media S.A –the parent corporation of Everest Poker—against Harrah’s Entertainment inc.

In addition to the lawsuit, Harrah’s will also have to find a replacement for Everest Poker at this year’s World Series of Poker, which depending on the price-tag they receive could be a good or bad thing for the company!
