ppilogoABERDEEN, New Jersey (October 16,2009) — Poker Players International (PPI) has initiated the “All In For a Cure” pledge program for The Nephcure Foundation (www.nephcure.org). The Nephcure Foundation, is the only charitable organization committed exclusively to support research seeking the cause of two potentially devastating kidney diseases, Nephrotic Syndrome and Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS).

PPI players such as 2007 WSOP Final table player Lee Childs , 2008 WSOP bracelet winner Jason Young, WSOP Circuit Event champion Frank Vizza , PPI Founder Gene Castro, along with Eric Siegel who is PPI’S Marketing and Player Development Leader have all take a pledge to donate a percentage of their tournament winning to the Nephcure poker pledge program.

“These players are among many in the poker community who understand that through the efforts of the constantly growing popularity of poker, players have an opportunity to get behind a cause that they want to support,” said Siegel , whose son suffers from Nephrotic kidney disease. The way that the program works, is that professional and amateur players alike make a 1% or more pledge of their tournament winnings to the Nephcure Foundation. These players can also be seen wearing Nephcure patches, shirts, hats and bracelets during major poker events around the world. The slogan “Saving Kidneys, Saving Lives” as it is prominently displayed on all the PPI gear, is a constant reminder of the importance to raise awareness and get others to take the pledge.

Nephrotic Syndrome and FSGS are conditions that affect the tiny filtering mechanisms in the kidney. The cause for these two kidney diseases is not known and there is no cure. Comprised of patients, their families and friends, researchers, physicians and other healthcare professionals, Nephcure aims to help science unlock the biological mechanisms that cause these serious conditions and ultimately find a way to cure and prevent them.

Poker Players International (PPI, www.ppipoker.com ) is the world’s largest poker player representation agency. With its corporate client and live events divisions, and soon-to-be launched general membership, PPI is among the preeminent poker services company in the world.

The Nephcure Foundation has a unique challenge in identifying patient families.  Privacy laws preclude doctors from providing information and because kidney diseases are invisible, people tend to struggle with them silently.  Anyone interested in participating in the All In For a Cure pledge program or would like further information can visit www.nephcure.org/Your-Poker-Pledge.htm
