In the wake of Jeff Malkasian’s testimony during the hearings regarding HR 2267 –the bill that would legalize and regulate online gambling including poker—poker players have banded together, and some are even calling for a boycott of the popular California card-room until they officially change their position regarding online poker.

The Poker Players Alliance has created a website titled Players Before Profits, where poker enthusiasts can sign an open letter to Commerce Casino –which currently has over 3,000 signatures including those of Doyle Brunson, Annie Duke, Joe Cada, Mike Matusow, Daniel Negreanu, Barry Greenstein, Patrik Antonius, Ted Forrest, and many other poker pros

The Commerce Casino’s spokesman at the hearing, Malkasian, listed a litany of reasons that Commerce Casino was against HR 2267, but the glaring omission was that it might cut into the Casinos profits by creating more competition for the card-room –as if players in California aren’t playing online poker right now anyway!

The PPA, and its surrogates, have been urging poker players to sign the open letter in an effort to show the Commerce Casino that isolating its customer base is a far worse proposition than having to compete against online card-rooms.
