Rumors grow regarding Cake Poker sale
What started as mere speculation in a few online poker forums, has now taken a turn into the mainstream poker media, as BLUFF Magazine is now reporting they have confirmed the imminent sale of Cake Poker to PokerListings.com.
The rumor gained some traction when PokerListings.com started placing Cake Poker advertisements on their homepage that far exceeded the industry norm for Cake Poker –PokerListings was offering a 110% deposit bonus up to $1,000 while the typical poker affiliate offers 110% up to $600—but now players trying to access the Cake Poker homepage are redirected to an “Internet Explorer cannot open this page”, error.
According to BLUFF Magazine: “through various sources BLUFF has confirmed that the deal is 90% likely to get finished in the next 15 days.” Considering the above revelation that the Cake Poker website is no longer accessible it looks to be done much sooner than that!
Once considered one of the models for online poker growth the Cake Poker Network has been plummeting in terms of traffic over the past 12-18 months, mainly on the backs of Lock Poker, Sportsbook Poker, Players Only Poker, and Doyles Room Poker jumping to other networks. However the Cake Poker Network has added Victory Poker, Unabomber Poker, and the Poker Pros Network in that time frame.
Stay tuned as more details emerge on the possible sale of Cake Poker to Pokerlistings.com.
