Poker News BoyEvery week in the Friday Wrap we try to bring you a recap of the top stories from the world of poker, but occasionally we have to veer off-track and update our readers on some of the stories they may have missed over the course of the week. With so much going on in poker this week –Full Tilt rumblings, WPT and EPT tournaments, and a battle between PokerTableRatings and PokerStars—there were plenty of stories we were unable to bring you with the coverage they deserved, so in this installment of the Friday Wrap we’ll run down these stories as well as where you can find more info on each one of them.

Amarillo Slim fighting for his life

There have been mixed reports this week over the health of poker legend Amarillo Slim. Early reports had Slim breathing his last breathes while more recent reports put the Poker Hall of Famer on the road to recovery, but still in ICU. Stay tuned for an in-depth look at the life and legacy of Amarillo Slim that I am working on.

Negreanu still firing against Annie Duke in latest vlog

In his latest vlog Daniel Negreanu talked a lot about the top female poker players in the game, but the Genesis of the conversation centered on his ongoing criticisms of Annie Duke and the Epic Poker League. Negreanu led into his top female poker players by citing Duke’s website that called her the best female poker player, while at the same time she was decrying the gender inequality of having a Ladies Event at the WSOP.

Massachusetts of course just passed a brick & mortar gaming last year that will see three mega-casinos and a slot parlor built in the state. The idea of legalized online poker first came up during those debates and now seems to be gaining even more traction.

Mike Sexton lays down the law

Mike Sexton penned a controversial, but in my opinion much-needed, blog this week calling out the behavior of some of today’s professional poker players. Sexton was both applauded and criticized for his effort, and days after the fact the topic is still alive and well on Twitter and the Internet poker forums.
