2009 WSOP final table chip-leader Darvin Moon has never played on

Darvin MoonThis seems almost preposterous in this day and age, but “November Nine” chip-leader Darvin Moon has stated he has never played online poker! He cited this as his reason for not accepting a sponsorship deal from an online poker site –and I have to say that Moon’s decision to turn down what would likely be a multi-million dollar endorsement deal is refreshing, and makes we want to root for him.

Moon’s admission may cause many poker players to rethink the way online poker is currently portrayed: As the new way to play poker. While online poker is typically a gateway to brick & Mortar card-rooms people need to realize that there are many high quality players who don’t bother with Internet poker; it’s not the bigger, better way to play the game, it’s an alternative.

It will be interesting to see if Darvin Moon can parlay his monster chip stack into a mainstream endorsement, which would be the first of its kind at the World Series of Poker: Are you listening Coke, Pepsi, etc. there is no need to buy commercial time, just purchase Darvin Moon and his 50+ million chips!
